Dig Truffles? A Foodie’s Guide with Winery Truffle Lunch at Del Dotto Vineyards

Let’s go on an adventure, a day-long journey of gastronomy, fun science, truffle orchards, wine and, of course, lots and lots of extraordinary truffle cuisine with world-class experts as your guides. Few opportunities in the world allow you to immerse yourself in all things truffle, and we’re thrilled to invite you to join us for this full-day truffle experience that will excite all of your senses!

Begin your day in true Napa style at the beautiful CIA COPIA with a glass of Peju Province sparkling wine in-hand as you interact with international Michelin star/master chefs in an up-close and personal exchange. Before they dive into a weekend of creating culinary magic, hear about their passion and secrets for cooking with truffles. Learn how to select, store and prepare them with Michelin starred Chef Ken Frank of La Toque. Discover surprisingly interesting and fun facts about truffles and truffle hunting with world-renowned truffle scientist Dr. Paul Thomas of American Truffle Company™ (did someone say “Sex and Truffles”?), and CPDT-KA certified dog trainer Alana McGee.

Interactive Truffle Experience

Do you know the difference between black and white truffles? How about European and native North American truffle species? Would you be able to discern them by sight or smell alone? Let American Truffle Company™’s Chief Truffle Officer Robert Chang guide you as you see, smell and touch a variety of truffles, and experience for yourself why some people love the Italian white truffle, while others prefer the Périgord black. Comparing against real truffles, you’ll uncover the limitations of synthetic truffle products like truffle oil and truffle salt, often used on truffle popcorn and truffle fries. Pair all this delicious information with delectable truffle bites prepared by our all-star chefs.

Cave Experience & Barrel Tasting at Piazza Del Dotto Winery & Caves

We’re just getting started with this day of rich experiences! We’ll take care of the transportation as you’re whisked away on Beau Wine Tours’ luxurious limo buses to Piazza Del Dotto Winery & Caves, the first of two stops at Del Dotto’s sprawling locations around Napa Valley. Come and experience highly rated world class wines that are thieved right out of the barrel at this newest winery in the Del Dotto family. The marble lined caves, located in the heart of Oakville, are home to some of the winery’s most decadent barrels. Taste the difference between wines produced in oak barrels from the great forests of the world while savoring delicious passed truffle appetizers!

Winery Truffle Lunch at Del Dotto Venetian Estate

After the unique cave experience, the limo buses will bring you to the Del Dotto Venetian Estate for an exclusive Winery Truffle Lunch. This delectable multi-course lunch will be prepared by a triad of star chefs, including guest Chef Juan José Cuevas from San Juan’s 1919 Restaurant, Del Dotto Executive Chef Joshua Schwartz and Chef Ken Frank of La Toque. Every course features fresh truffles paired with Del Dotto’s most exclusive wines. Surrender to the full pleasure of decadent courses covered in truffles and served with exquisite wines in a quintessential winery setting! This is Napa Valley at its finest!

Truffle Orchard Tour with Truffle Dog Demonstration

No truffle immersion is complete without truffle dogs. The day culminates at Robert Sinskey Vineyards Truffle Orchard with a tasting of Sinskey’s prized wines, followed by a rousing orchard tour and dog training demo (petting encouraged). Find out how truffle dogs are trained to find only mature truffles. See the trained truffle dogs in action as they sniff out truffles at Napa Valley’s first scientifically-managed truffle orchard.

What’s more, the winners of the day’s truffle identification contest will have a chance to take home a real black truffle!
