Double Delights

A truffle lunch and wine pairing on Saturday…and another truffle lunch and wine pairing on Sunday. Can’t decide? Then experience for yourself how two world-class, Michelin chefs interpret the tasty tubers: sign up for both!

Both Nickel & Nickel and Hall wineries are stand-out ultra-premium vinous—and architectural—presences on Highway’s 29 spittoon circuit.

and Michelin Star Chef Carrie Nahabedian to create a menu that tempts with exotic preview (note, not final) possibilities such as Celery Root Soup and Confit “New Year’s” Goose with Cockscomb, and of course, Black Truffles.

A tasting of the winery’s exclusively 100% varietal, single-vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from the appellation’s most significant AVAs wines—each best expressing the distinct personality of each vineyard—is complemented by a tour of the estate’s collection of classic barns and original Queen Anne-style home.

Nickel and Nickel’s ingenuous design—radically modest in a region that  boasts plenty of striking structures—spotlights the great vernacular of American barns. Rather than compete with such spectacular neighbors the owners replicated the history of Napa Valley and of an old American farmstead. The barn was originally built of hand-hewn beams in 1770 and the reconstruction of it used mainly old-fashioned—and these days unusual—post and beam construction.

HALL is another outstanding architectural achievement, an innovative blend of historic charm with contemporary design, punctuated by an impressive art collection and imaginative art installations. The estate includes the historic 1885 Bergfeld Winery and a new state-of-the-art winemaking facility and tasting center. Following a private tour of the winery and grounds, Michelin Star Guest Chef Jarad Gallagher of Chez TJ in Mountain View, CA will conduct a cooking demonstration in the winery’s brand new culinary center. It’s not every day you can have a cooking class with a Michelin star chef! Take a front row seat to learn from and interact with one of the best culinary talents in the world.

Chef Jarad’s mouthwatering multi-course truffle lunch, paired with HALL’s superb signature wines, promises possibilities (subject to change) such as Black Truffle Arancini and Truffle Chocolate Baklava.

Screen shot 2014-01-09 at 8.02.02 AMHALL’s estate vineyards encompass more than five hundred acres of classic Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. Here the Halls practice dedicated environmental commitment and utilize cutting-edge vineyard technology that yields the highest quality Napa Valley grapes.
