Wild Mushroom Forage

.

with mycologists David Campbell,
Dr. Paul Thomas and Stephanie Jarvis

.

.

Rise and shine! Join mycologist extraordinaire David Campbell for an early morning forage in the Napa woods at the height of the mushroom season. He’ll touch on the basics of mushroom hunting, the process of mushroom identification and discuss proper handling and cooking options for any edible specimens you may encounter: “We’ll see what we find and find what we see! With a little luck, perhaps we’ll find Porcini, Hedgehogs, Chanterelles, or Candy Caps…”

.

Accompanying David will be fellow mycologists Dr. Paul Thomas and Stephanie Jarvis.

Mycologist?

Mycology (from the Greek mukēs, meaning "fungus") is the branch of biology concerned with the study of fungi, including their genetic and biochemical properties, their taxonomy and their use to humans as a source for tinder, medicinals (penicillin), food (beer, wine, cheese, edible mushrooms) and entheogens ("generating the divine within"), as well as their dangers, such as poisoning or infection.  Wikipedia

.

Quite simply, a mycologist is a biologist who studies fungi.
