Bringing together an interactive, experiential program with an exquisite truffle lunch at a premier Napa winery and an exclusive tour of the first truffle orchard in Napa Valley, complete with our favorite truffle dogs, this program packs the truffle weekend highlights into one great truffle day.
Michelin starred Chef Ken Frank will guide you through an interactive culinary session where you’ll get to smell, touch and taste various species of truffles that are in season, and discover the truth about truffle “products” – like oil and salt. Chef Ken, considered one of the foremost truffle chefs in America, will also share his knowledge from 35+ years of working with truffles on how to select, buy, store and prepare these magic tubers. You’ll also get a glimpse into the science of truffles (including “sex and truffles”!), and why science plays a key role in how they are grown and harvested with world-renowned truffle scientist Dr. Paul Thomas. Plus, our associate CPDT-KA master dog trainer Alana McGee will guide you through the fascinating and fun world of training dogs to harvest truffles, including a demonstration at a real truffle orchard located at Robert Sinskey Vineyards Truffle Orchard where owner Rob Sinskey and vineyard/orchard manager Debby Zygielbaum will provide insights into managing the first truffle orchard planted in the Napa Valley area.
After learning all about truffles, you’ll be treated to a superb Winery Truffle Lunch – one of the highlights of the festival weekend – prepared by an award-winning master chef. The lunch, a truffle menu that features fresh black truffles in every course, will be perfectly paired with select wines from the host winery.
