Since the first year that the Napa Truffle Festival held its Marketplace at Oxbow Public Market (2012), chef/co-owner Dario De Conti of Ca’ Momi Enoteca has presented lively cooking demos of their popular Pizza al Tartufo Nero. This year, their new Napa downtown restaurant Ca’ Momi Osteria also offered truffle menus throughout the winter truffle season. Here, Chef Dario shares his Gnocchi di Patate alle Tartufo Nero (potato gnocchi with black truffles) – a favorite Italian comfort food that is beyond delicious as a perfect first course, or a meal in itself.

Dario De Conti was raised on his family’s farm in Veneto, Italy, where he funded his wine making studies by making pizza at the local pizzeria. He brought both of these skills to Napa Valley, where he partnered to create the Ca’ Momi trio: Winery, Enoteca and Osteria.

Both Ca’ Momi locations offer authentic Italian cuisine using traditional recipes that are ‘heartcrafted’ with the best organic and local ingredients possible. The wine selections are fantastico, too, including their own Ca’ Momi wines made by Chef Dario himself (but probably wearing a baseball cap instead of a cappello da chef).
